Eric Marcus, founder and host of the award-winning Making Gay History podcast provides an introduction to MGH’s current 12-episode series on the experiences of LGBTQ people during the rise of the Nazi regime, World War II, and the Holocaust. Drawing on extensive research conducted for this first-of-its-kind audio documentary, Eric will share clips from archival interviews that bring this painful, often hidden history to life through the voices of the people who lived it.

He is also co-producer of “Those Who Were There,” a podcast drawn from Yale University’s Fortunoff Video Archive for Holocaust Testimonies. He is the author and co-author of a dozen books, including the #1 NY Times bestselling autobiography of Olympic Diving Champion Greg Louganis, and was a founding board member of the American LGBTQ+ Museum. 🌾 Counting the Omer & Making the Omer Count 🌾

The omer is the 49 days period between the second day of Passover and the holiday of Shavuot. On the 2nd day of Passover, an omer (measurement of grain) of barley was brought as an offering to Adonai for the season’s bounty, and then seven weeks or 49 days were counted until the wheat harvest would begin. Leviticus 23 commands us to count each day. We get to choose how. This year we are highlighting the issues that our community cares about each week of the Omer and offering options for action and organizations that focus on this work.

From our Passover celebration of freedom and liberation to Shavuot, the celebration of the revelation of Torah, let us count these days and weeks together and instill them with purpose, meaning and intention.

For the fifth week of the Omer we are focusing on organizations that work to combat hunger and food insecurity:

🥯 Mazon - https://mazon.org/
🥯 World Central Kitchen - https://wck.org/
🥯 SOVA - https://www.jfsla.org/

Take the time to learn about these organizations and the important work they do putting our shared values into action.
