Join us for a moving and thought-provoking evening as Temple Beth Am hosts a private showing of (Re)Defining Zionism: Portraits and Perspectives from a Post-October 7 Israel: a powerful photo exhibit by artist and TBA member Shlomit Levy Bard.

Enjoy heavy appetizers, an open bar, and a live musical performance as we gather to explore the diverse personal stories and faces that make up modern Israeli identity. Shlomit’s portraits, captured in the months following October 7, give voice to Israelis across different faiths, regions and walks of life. This is a chance to reflect, engage and connect through art.

This event will take place at UCLA Hillel.

The $18 ticket prices will go toward the catering for the event, but any further donations will go the artist.

🌾 Counting the Omer & Making the Omer Count 🌾

The omer is the 49 days period between the second day of Passover and the holiday of Shavuot. On the 2nd day of Passover, an omer (measurement of grain) of barley was brought as an offering to Adonai for the season’s bounty, and then seven weeks or 49 days were counted until the wheat harvest would begin. Leviticus 23 commands us to count each day. We get to choose how. This year we are highlighting the issues that our community cares about each week of the Omer and offering options for action and organizations that focus on this work.

From our Passover celebration of freedom and liberation to Shavuot, the celebration of the revelation of Torah, let us count these days and weeks together and instill them with purpose, meaning and intention.

For the second week of the Omer we are focusing on organizations that are meeting the support needed after the LA Wildfires:

🌱 The Jewish Library Project - bcc-la.org/the-jewish-library-project/
🌱 JFed Wildfire Crisis Relief - jewishla.org/wildfire-crisis-relief/
🌱 Habitat for Humanity - habitatla.org/how-to-apply/disaster-relief/
🌱 LA Works - laworks.com/2025fires

Take the time to learn about these organizations and the important work they do putting our shared values into action.

From our Passover celebration of freedom and liberation to Shavuot, the celebration of the revelation of Torah, let us count these days and weeks together and instill them with purpose, meaning and intention.

For the first week of the Omer we are focusing on organizations that promote Trans Advocacy:

🏳️‍⚧️ HRC - https://www.hrc.org/

For the first week of the Omer we are focusing on organizations that promote Trans Advocacy:

🏳️‍⚧️ The Transgender Law Center - https://transgenderlawcenter.org/
🏳️‍⚧️ Trans Lifeline - https://translifeline.org/
🏳️‍⚧️ HRC - https://www.hrc.org/
🏳️‍⚧️ Lambda Legal - https://lambdalegal.org/
🏳️‍⚧️ Sage - https://www.sageusa.org/

Take the time to learn about these organizations and the important work they do putting our shared values into action.

The word “vision” captures that ability to think about, imagine, and plan for the future. Taking in what others pass by, envisioning the world as it can be, working against the odds with dedication and passion to make the world a better place – these are the qualities we celebrate with the BCC Vision Awards.

These are the qualities found in our honorees – we invite you to contribute generously to honor these remarkable people and ensure BCC can carry on their legacy for generations to come.
