Please join Cantor Juval and guest Cantor Rebekah Mirsky for a healing service bidding farewell to Shabbat and welcoming in the new week with original music, meditation and Jewish texts and prayers of healing and recovery.
Cantor Rebekah Mirsky is a 2010 ordinee of the Academy of Jewish Religion. She is the founding Cantor of Beit T’shuvah, a residential treatment facility and synagogue, for 8 years, where she helped to create a Music In Recovery program. Cantor Rebekah also served as a spiritual advisor, using Mussar and other Jewish traditions to counsel those in need.
Cantor Rebekah’s special loves are B’nai Mitzvah tutoring and officiating ceremonies. She has done many b’nai mitzvah, encouraging the student’s individual and unique gifts to shine through the ceremony where an emphasis is placed on inspiring a love of Judaism in each child. She is an interpreter of Jewish Liturgy, an active composer and a fellow of the Helfman Institute for New Jewish Music. Her compositions are beautiful, contemporary commentaries that enliven the ancient beauty of the liturgy.
“Today prayer seems like something that can be far out of reach. My goal is to put it in people’s hands so that it touches every aspects of their lives. When we incorporate our individual and respective experiences into the Jewish tradition, it becomes personal and it becomes meaningful.”
