Honoring Rabbi Lisa and Lezbetzin Tracy – A nostalgic look
Over the next three months as we prepare to say goodbye to Rabbi Lisa Edwards as Beth Chayim Chadashim’s spiritual leader after 25 years of dedicated and inspirational service to our community together with Lezbetzin Tracy Moore, BCC will be taking a nostalgic look back at special parts of its memorable history as one way we are honoring Rabbi Lisa and Tracy. These nostalgic remembrances will be brief presentations during many of the Friday evening Shabbat services from now until the end of June.
Our first presentation this Friday, March 15, will be given by BCC member, Ray Eelsing, who will speak about BCC’s L’Chayim Legacy Circle, whose members have included BCC in their estate plans and have thus taken extra care to sustain BCC in the future.
Additional scheduled presentations include the following:
March 22, BCC members Pam Postrel & Mindy Blum will speak on the 2008 Summer of Love during which Rabbi Lisa officiated at dozens of legal marriages between June and November 2008.
March 29, Cantorial Soloist emerita Fran Chalin will speak on her time on the Bimah with Rabbi Lisa.
April 5, BCC member Bill Resnick will speak about his personal history with BCC.
April 12, BCC member Davi Cheng will speak about our beautiful stained glass windows, which were designed and built by Davi and BCC member Jerry Hanson.
April 26, BCC member and former BCC President Brett Trueman will speak about his vision for a new building and the capital campaign, which resulted in the purchase of our new home at 6090 Pico Blvd.
May 3, Bracha Yael will speak on the telephone minyan and its evolution into BCC Live.
May 24, BCC member and former BCC President Lauren Schlau will speak about hiring Rabbi Lisa in 1994 as Lauren was on the Rabbinical Search Committee at that time.
Several additional speakers are planned and will be scheduled in the near future. We hope you will come to Shabbat services and be present for these cherished BCC remembrances.
