Books & Bagels group
Join fellow BCC book lovers for the monthly Book Group meeting on Zoom. This group meets once a month (typically the last Sunday) to discuss Jewish fiction or non-fiction book selections, sometimes with LGBT content. Space is limited.
Chai Life (40s-50s)
BCC folk in our prime of life have a new social club: Chai Life Havurah. Yes, we’re living the “high life” right now, while we have the resources to realize our dreams, and the energy to do it with gusto! Join your fellow BCC Gen Xers at regular social, educational, spiritual, and volunteer events throughout the year. All genders are most welcome!
Chosen Havurah (20s-30s)
We are creating a spiritual and sacred space for those in our BCC family who want to meet and socialize with other young adults between 18 and 39. Some possible events: movie night in the Sukkah, annual Hanukkah party, game nights, a workshop on Jewish mysticism, social justice actions, or yoga.
Film Club
Bi-monthly film screenings at BCC will either have an LGBTQ+ and/or Jewish content theme. There will be an introduction on the cultural importance and impact of the featured film when it was initially released. Screenings are followed by a discussion on the film’s timelessness or relevance in today’s world. This program is free and open to members and non-members.
Trans/Non-binary Havurah
BCC provides a space that not only is safe and welcoming; we also connect transgender community members to one another in a celebratory, joyful, and trans-centered way.
Vegan Havurah
BCC’s Vegan Havurah brings together those who are vegan or vegan-curious for social and educational events. Among the planned activities are outings to vegan restaurants and vegan fairs, cooking demonstrations, talks with dietitians about proper nutrition for vegans, and in-home gatherings to share meals. We will also invite outside speakers to talk about the connection between Judaism and veganism.
