BCC Film Club
BCC’s film club is an exciting new addition to BCC programming. Bi-monthly film screenings at BCC will either have an LGBTQ+ and/or Jewish content theme. There will be an introduction on the cultural importance and impact of the featured film, when it was initially released. Screenings are followed by a discussion on the film’s timelessness or relevance in today’s world. This program is free, and open to members and non-members.

About the film:
“The Boys in the Band” is a 2020 American film directed by Joe Mantello, based on the 1968 play by Mart Crowley and starring the same cast as appeared in the 2018 Broadway revival. Set in an apartment on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, a group of gay friends reunite to celebrate one of their birthdays. As the evening progresses, the painful backgrounds of each of the characters is sharply revealed through a series of provocative party games.
Considered groundbreaking in its portrayal of gay life when originally produced, this current adaptation is equally poignant and relevant for this time. The exclusively gay cast includes Jim Parsons, Zachary Quinto, Matt Bomer and Andrew Rannells.

Hi, I’d like to get involved with BCC and the flim club seems like a good place to start. Are you meeting over Zoom right now, like the book club?
